Mr. Karan Johar is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, actor and television personality known for his work in Hindi cinema. Mr. Johar made his directorial debut with the blockbuster romance Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), which earned him the Filmfare Awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay. He went on to direct hugely successful dramas Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), My Name is Khan (2010) — which earned him his second Filmfare Award for Best Director — and Student of the Year (2012). His most recent directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) stands as his biggest commercial success. Mr. Johar is also the host of a television chat show called Koffee with Karan. He has served as a judge on the reality shows Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, India’s Got Talent and Dil Hai Hindustani. In 2007, Mr. Johar was chosen as one of 250 Global Young Leaders by the World Economic Forum 2006. With his flagship Dharma Productions, Mr. Johar has constantly challenged the norms, written and rewritten rules, and set trends.
